Getting a Facial at Club Olympus, Grand Hyatt Berlin

The past couple of months have been quite hectic, to say the least. I went back to Youtube, I took on new roles, and I accepted more freelance work. It’s been rewarding but I’m not gonna lie – it really did a number on my stress levels. So, despite my skin getting better over the summer, I experienced breakouts and hives anew. At some points, I was rather dehydrated and was running on little sleep that it started showing on my skin. So an invitation to the Grand Hyatt Berlin‘s Club Olympus was much more than welcome.

It’s hardly my first time coming to the Grand Hyatt here in Berlin. Having covered the Berlinale before for Forbes and Rappler, I’ve spent some time in the hotel doing press registrations and attending press conferences. So the hotel really does have a special place in my heart.  I met Wes Anderson and Tilda Swinton in their premises for the first time and those instances definitely make it to my list of memorable times in Berlin.

VIDEO: Is Hard Water Causing/Aggravating Your Breakout?

One of the things that really shocked me when we moved to Berlin was the water quality. Don’t get me wrong. It’s healthy enough for infants and has lots of minerals which are good for you. However, those said minerals weren’t so kind to my skin and hair.

If you recently moved to a place with hard water and you noticed that your skin is dry and worse, breaking out, hard water may be one of the culprits. You can also attribute hair fall as well as limp strands and oily scalp to it.

Skincare Review: The Face Shop’s Yehwadam Revitalising Serum and Snow Lotus Pearl Capsule

This year’s first skin care review goes to two new products from The Face Shop that have floored me. Like I said a couple of posts ago, I would be a little more picky when it comes to what I feature on this space so as to give you guys more curated content and I think these new products are a good way to start that new policy.

So The Face Shop recently came out with a new range called Yehwadam and I was able to try their Revitalising Serum and the Snow Lotus Brightening Pearl Capsule Cream. Both are great if you’re looking into adding some oomph into your night time routine – especially on the anti-ageing department.

Beauty + Skin Care: Sorabee Balancing Series

img_6419-1_zpsvtbibtak

Hello, my loves. I’m back with another skin care review cos as you all know by now, I’m pretty obsessed with giving my skin some TLC.

Quite recently, this obsession became a lot more intense as my skin has been acting out. 🙁 From having dry skin for over 2 decades, I’m now dealing with something that’s so new to me – combination skin. I blame the crazy heat and the hormonal rebalancing that’s been going on. Pfft.

Just in time for this sudden skin shift, I was contacted by the people behind Korean skin care brand Sorabee to do a review on their skincare products. I was kind of hesitant at first due to my skin’s current state. However, after being given more information about the range, I changed my mind.

Sorabee‘s Balancing range promised to be suitable for any skin type – something that I’m in dire need of since my skin has been so weird. Sometimes, it’s oily and sometimes, it’s extra dry. Extreme combination skin, anyone? Ugh, can’t wait for this phase to be O-V-E-R.

The range’s products also contain marine collagen extracted from Sea Stars (star fishes) which helps in hydrating  and balancing out combination skin.

Shall I walk you through the products?

Beauty + Skincare: Kosé’s Sekkisei Trial Kit

Kose, Kose Japan, Kose Malaysia, Sekkisei, Sekkisei Trial Kit, Sekkisei Lotion, Sekkisei Emulsion, Sekkisei Face Wash, Sekkisei Mask, Skincare, Beauty, Review

Hello, my loves. Today, we’re back with another skincare review on a line that I only finished trying out recently.

I’m talking about Japanese brand Kosé’s Sekkisei line which I used right after trying out the Mentholatum Botanics range. I wanted to post this entry sooner, to be honest. But seeing as I only have one face, I do take a while in reviewing products. And I did promise you guys that you only get quality posts (that I would work hard on) in this blog, right? 😉

The Sekkisei line has been around for 30 years, this line boasts of an age-old ‘beautiful, translucent skin recipe’ that is said to be gentle yet effective in brightening and evening-out one’s skin tone.

You may remember that I got a pretty big package like other bloggers from my friend Tammy‘s community – The Butterfly Project.

Inside the humungous box filled with balloons was the Sekkisei trial kit which is perfect for traveling. As someone who travels a lot, I really do appreciate it when companies make such sets. It makes it easier to pack and unpack when you have everything in one to-go bag.Continue reading
