Ageing gracefully is something I aim for. Almost everyone who knows me personally have been treated, at least once, with a very long and passionate lecture on how we should start taking care of our skin early on.
I’m 25 and we all know that’s the age where the skin and the hair start to age and get easily damaged. And I’m all for damage control, ladies. 😉 That’s why, if you’ve been following this blog, you might have noticed how often I test and write about moisturisers and anti-ageing products. We’re all gonna age at some point, but I’d like to keep looking just a wee bit younger than my actual age and to keep my skin healthy by using the products that are available to me. It’s doable, I tell you. My grandmother did it.
And with all of that said, I’m pretty sure all of you can imagine how I happy I was to be invited along with my friends to the launch of Korean skin care brand Pure Beauty‘s new Youth Restore Range. The launch was held in Putrajaya, while we were on a cruise on the lake. It was so much fun hanging out with my friends and making a couple more while learning about a new skin care product.
Professor Seong J. Kim MD, PhD – a famous dermatologist from Korea for being the country’s top Academic Research Dermatologist and CEO of a bio-venture company funded by the Korean government that focuses on R&D activities for transitional commercialisation in neurocosmetics – flew to Kuala Lumpur especially for the event and so he can explain what’s in the new Youth Restore Range that makes it so good to the skin.
But first, a couple of us were put to the test. A skin test, that is, to check our hydration levels. Professor Kim confirmed what I already know – I do have dry skin. And we all know what that means – I am extremely prone to wrinkles and I need extra hydration and care. He did say I was doing a good job in caring for my skin once I explained how I do it – so, whew!
They also had Malaysian celebrity Wong Chui Ling at the event who’s been using the product over a month. She shared her experiences, citing how it has helped her skin stay firm and fight signs of ageing.
And of course, what’s an event without bloggers going crazy over selfies? I mean, really. Since I started blogging, my selfie game has been on an all-time high. Not complaining, though. I think it’s a fun way to bond with other girls. 😉
We were given colourful leis that day to get us in the mood for the “cruise”. Though the weather wasn’t cooperating at first, the skies eventually cleared up and allowed us to enjoy the cruise from the top of the boat.
Ok, so let’s start talking about the products. What makes the Youth Restore range special?
The 4 products in the range all contain a breakthrough skin rejuvenation formula especially formulated by Pure Beauty. They are:
- Liftonin Complex which boosts your skin’s elasticity and will reduce your wrinkles if you already have some
- Red Ginseng Peptide which is a natural restorative
- Green Caviar and Blue Lotus extracts that lock hydration
- Certified Organic Active Extracts and an Enhanced Antioxidant Combo that will soothe your skin and prevent early signs of ageing
We were all given two out of the four products in the range to bring home and try. I got the Eye Firming Cream and the Firming Essence.
Let’s talk about the eye cream first.
The cream is very light and glides smoothly when applied. It is also easily absorbed by the skin – about 5 minutes tops. It comes in a 15ml tube that will last you about a month or so since you only need the tiniest amount of it and it covers the whole under-eye area.
Been using the eye cream for a couple of days now and so far, I’ve been liking it. No significant effects yet but the product does promise significant wrinkle and fine reduction in 4 weeks. Their studies showed 90% of their clinical participants who tested the range gave positive feedback and showed reduced signs of ageing.
I am also quite excited to see whether the effects would really show up in just a month, especially since I have a couple of fine lines starting to creep up under the eyes. Blame it on the pulling and tugging I used to do on my eye area while removing my makeup a few years back. But now, I’m wiser than that and I just pat makeup remover all over the eye area until everything comes off. 😉
Now for the firming essence.
First things first – I love the packaging. I love it when products come in pumps because some of it doesn’t get trapped at the back of my nail (as is the case for whenever I try to get moisturisers out of tubs). I even started cutting my nails really short because of this issue. But now, I can grow them long again and indulge myself with more manicures. 😉
The essence is very light and almost watery in consistency with the slightest hint of gel into it. It is also easily absorbed and dries quickly on the face. I’ve been using it during the day, before putting on my facial sunscreen, moisturiser, then makeup.
I find that after putting some of the firming essence on my face, there is a slight tingling feeling once it dries that actually feels like my skin is firming up. I’ll try to update you guys in 4 weeks with the results. 😉
The scent of both products does take a bit of getting used to, especially if you’re used to unscented or sweet-smelling products as they smell of ginseng. It’s not too strong though.
Pure Beauty products are always affordable. When I first encountered it, I was surprised with the prices since I was expecting them to be a lot higher. The Firming Essence retails for RM69.90 (Php865.45, EUR18.01, USD19.58) while the Eye Cream is at RM49.90 (Php617.83, EUR12.86, USD13.98).
The two other products in the range, the Moisture Day Cream SPF20 is at RM54.90 (Php679.73 EUR14.15, USD15.38) while the Restore Repair Night Cream is at RM55.90 (Php692.12, EUR14.41, USD15.66).
All the products in the range are paraben, lanolin, and alcohol free making them perfect for sensitive skin.
Have you tried the new Pure Beauty Youth Restore Range? How’s it working for you so far? Let me know! 🙂
