A bit late to the party and admittedly, I wasn’t able to watch it live. Thank goodness for replays and the internet! And of course, I won’t be able to forgive myself if I didn’t make a post on my favourite looks. Honestly, I watch award shows not just to find out who wins what but for the fashion as well. Nothing too spectacular about that. All I’m saying is I’m like every other girl who catches the replays and checks out the best/worst dressed lists so I can go ‘oooh’ and ‘aaah’ and ‘eeew’ at people. Pretty normal.

So without further yapping (I should try to be less verbose, right? But really, that just won’t be me.), here are my favourite, favourite looks from the last Golden Globes (cos T&A won’t be hosting next year – and really – who can ever replace those two?!):

1. Emma Stone

Surprise! Not. Everyone who knows me personally knows how much I love this girl the moment I saw her on Superbad (Loved her more in Easy A). She is fun, she is quirky, and she has great taste. A couple of friends have told me for years how much I remind them of her cos of the humungous eyes and the quirky personality (in reel and real life) and I’ve always had one reaction to it: I’ll take it! Haha! That’s how much I love this girl. But really, my love (read: bias) for her is not really playing a huge part on her being my number one. Just look at that outfit.

I mean, really. Look at that Lanvin number on her! I practically drooled when I saw it. It’s classy and elegant with just the right amount of oomph to it. It’s crisp and sleek and shiny but not too loud. It’s so many things rolled into one. Damn, girl. I want that on me.

2. Tina Fey

Sorry, A. But T gets this. She so gets it. I mean, really. She looks better in a tuxedo than most men! In fact, speaking of tuxedos – and suits, I’v been looking for the proper occasion to wear a suit since Diane Keaton made it look so chic last year. And now Tina Fey is putting more pressure on me. Thanks, ladies.

3. Kate Hudson

Showing off too much cleavage usually doesn’t sit well with me. I find it way too sleazy. In fact, I’m not really a fan of big boobs and showcasing “the rack” when someone has too much. Call it a double standard but I love elegant, sophisticated looks. Too much boob exposure can almost always make a look trashy. But this look by Kate Hudson? Flawless. She nailed it. Classy despite the overexposure of cleavage. Sexy but still very elegant. The accessories, the hair, and clean makeup made it happen. Oh, and have you seen the back of that dress? Priceless.

4. Lorde

Wore something like this in 2012 but only with a shinier top and my slacks were of the skinnier fit. It was a hit back then and I love how this is still a hit now! 😀 I would prefer a different fit for Lorde’s pants – either skinny or a bit more flowy. But the attitude this look has trumps that minor detail.

5. Amal Alamuddin Clooney

Ah, Amal. That gown is to die for. But there’s just something with how the gloves seem to be crumpling on the sides and are trying to fall off her arms. A pair made of thinner, stretchy fabric to keep it in place would have been better. But otherwise, girl – you are a vision as usual.

6. Dakota Johnson

Is Dakota trying to get all the 50 Shades of Grey fans hyped up by looking all sweet and Anastasia Steele-y in this photo? Yes, I read the first book in that trilogy. No, didn’t and will not read the other two ever. So when I say this girl is nailing the sweet, about to be corrupted look in 50 Shades of Grey – I think I have I cred. And it’s really working for her.

7. Kate Beckinsale

One can never go wrong with an Elie Saab creation. You’ll have to be extremely hideous not to look good in his gowns. Ok, sweeping generalisations. But seriously. I love his work. And of course, on Kate who’s already extremely pretty and only gets prettier and classier once she opens her mouth (she can curse you and you’d still think she’s adorable), well, it’s a winner combination.

8. Felicity Jones

Some called it a tent but I beg to differ. This teal number is such a stand out! And I love the earrings and the hair and the makeup. Really. Love. Her.

9. Lupita Nyong’o

Still waiting for the day when Lupita makes a fashion faux pas. She’s perfection. As always.

10. Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger is always classy. What’s not to love about her and her look for this year’s Golden Globes? Look at that fresh face – I just want to frame it and hang it on our wall.

11. Taylor Schilling

One thing’s for sure – Taylor looks so much hotter in red than orange.

12. Jennifer Lopez

Again with the cleavage exposure – nailed it. Not really a fan of her dress but I just want to show my appreciation for JLo. Are you really 45? How? I wanna look this young and hot when I’m 45.

More later!

Love,

Carol
